LaCasitaOS

Terms of Service

Last updated: 23 August 2026

These terms govern your use of LaCasitaOS (“the service”). By creating an account or joining a household you agree to them. If you do not, please do not use the service.

1. What the service is

LaCasitaOS is a tool for people sharing a home or a trip. It lets you record shared expenses and divide them — including item by item, from a photographed receipt — track the resulting balances, run a chore rota with optional points and rewards, keep shared shopping, wishlist and maintenance lists, and record the household’s recurring standing charges. It is offered on a free plan and an optional paid plan; see section 5a.

2. Eligibility and your account

  • You must be at least 16 years old.
  • The information you provide must be accurate, and you are responsible for keeping your credentials secure.
  • You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at clerici.teo5@gmail.com if you believe it has been used without your permission.
  • An invite code grants access to a household’s full financial history. Share it only with people you intend to give that access to.

3. Households, trips and shared content

Anything you add to a household is visible to every member of it, and members can edit and delete shared records — including expenses, chores and lists — according to the permissions the app applies. You keep ownership of the content you submit, and grant us only the licence needed to store and display it to your household so the service can function.

Deleting a household permanently removes its data for everyone in it. Leaving a household keeps its financial records intact, because removing one person’s share would corrupt everybody else’s balances.

4. The service does not move money

LaCasitaOS is a record-keeping tool, not a payment service, an e-money institution or a financial adviser. Marking a debt as settled records that you say a payment happened; it does not transfer any funds, and we do not verify that any payment took place. All actual payments happen directly between you and the other people involved, by whatever means you choose. Debts between housemates are a matter between you.

5. Receipt scanning is an aid, not an authority

Reading a receipt from a photograph is performed by an automated model and will sometimes be wrong — a price misread, a line missed, a product mislabelled. Every extracted line is shown to you for correction before anything is saved, and the figures you confirm are the ones the service uses. You are responsible for checking them. We are not liable for a split based on figures you approved.

Where you photograph one long receipt in several overlapping sections, the model is asked to treat the set as a single document and to count a row that appears in two photographs only once. It can get that judgement wrong in either direction — a repeated row counted twice, or a genuine second purchase merged away. The review screen exists for precisely this reason: check the line count and the total against the paper before you confirm.

5a. Plans and prices

The core of the service is free and stays free. There is no cap on how many expenses, participants or settlements a household may record, and there never will be. Creating an account gives you thirty days of Premium, with no card required and nothing to cancel — it simply ends, and everything you recorded during it stays.

Premium is an optional paid plan, sold at €24.99 per year or €2.99 per month. It adds: line-by-line splitting of a scanned receipt, fair-use AI scans with up to five photographs of one long receipt, unlimited households you create, self-repeating chores with fairness scoring, an unlimited recurring-subscriptions vault, and typeset PDF statements. Prices are in euros. Any tax that applies is calculated and shown before you confirm, at checkout.

5b. Billing, renewal and cancellation

  • A subscription is recurring. It renews automatically at the end of each billing period — a year or a month, whichever you chose — at the price then published, until you cancel it.
  • You may cancel at any time, from Plan and billing inside the app, which opens our payment processor’s own billing portal. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your Premium features run to the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not refund the unused part of a period you chose to end early, except where the law requires it.
  • A failed payment does not immediately end your plan. If a card is declined, your access continues while the payment is retried and you are asked to update it. Only when those attempts are exhausted and the subscription is cancelled does the account return to the free plan.
  • If we change the price, we will tell you before the change takes effect and you will be able to cancel before being charged the new amount. Existing data is never affected by a price change.
  • Downgrading never takes your data away. Expenses, balances, receipts, history and CSV export remain available on the free plan, including after a subscription lapses. Premium features stop; the record does not.

5c. Your right of withdrawal (EU and UK consumers)

If you are a consumer in the European Union or the United Kingdom you have fourteen days from the day the contract is concluded to withdraw from a purchase of digital services, without giving a reason.

Because Premium is made available to you immediately on payment, by completing checkout you expressly request that we begin performing at once and you acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal once the service has been fully performed. Where you withdraw within the fourteen days after we have begun, you may be charged an amount proportionate to what has been supplied up to that point — for an annual plan cancelled in its first fortnight, that is a small fraction of the price.

To withdraw, write to clerici.teo5@gmail.com within the fourteen days. A clear statement is enough; no particular form is required.

5d. Payments are handled by Stripe

Payment is processed by Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd. Checkout takes place on Stripe’s own hosted page, and card details are submitted directly to Stripe: your card number, expiry and security code never reach our servers and are never stored by us. We receive from Stripe only what is needed to run your subscription — a customer identifier, the plan, and its status. Your card, your invoices and your cancellation are managed in Stripe’s billing portal, which the app links to. Stripe’s own terms and privacy notice apply to that relationship; our Privacy Policy sets out what we hold.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the service unlawfully, or to harass or defraud anyone;
  • upload content you have no right to share, or that is unlawful or offensive;
  • attempt to access another household’s data, probe or circumvent our security, or interfere with the service’s operation;
  • scrape, automate or overload the service, or evade the rate limits that protect it;
  • resell or commercially redistribute the service without our written permission.

We may suspend or terminate access that breaches these terms, generally with notice unless the breach requires immediate action.

7. Availability and beta status

The service is offered as is and is under active development. Features may change or be withdrawn, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that any defect will be corrected. Keep your own record of anything you cannot afford to lose.

8. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss of data arising from your use of the service, and our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim — which, on a free account, is nil.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded under applicable law. If you use the service as a consumer, your mandatory statutory rights are unaffected.

9. Ending your use

You may stop using the service at any time and request deletion of your account by writing to clerici.teo5@gmail.com. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including sections 4, 5, 5b, 8 and 10 — continue to apply.

10. Changes, and the law that applies

We may update these terms as the service develops, and will revise the date at the top. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the revised terms; material changes will be announced in the app first.

These terms are governed by the law of the operator’s place of establishment within the European Union, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence.
